Design Principles
Key architectural decisions behind the CPQ module
Configuration before Pricing
CPQ always validates configuration compatibility before calculating price. This ensures that invalid product combinations are rejected upstream — before a quote is generated and before an order is created — reducing fulfilment failures.
Discount Stacking Rules
Multiple discounts can apply to the same quote item, but CPQ enforces stacking rules to prevent conflicting promotions. Discount resolution is deterministic — the same inputs always produce the same output — making pricing auditable and predictable.
Quote-to-Order Handoff
A confirmed quote becomes the source of truth for order creation. Order Capture reads the quote and persists the commercial intent without re-calculating prices, ensuring that what the subscriber agreed to is exactly what is ordered.
Recommend configurations and discounts that win deals within margin rules.
