Design Principles

Key architectural decisions behind the Reporting module

🏗️

Read-replica Pipeline

Reports never query operational databases directly. Data is extracted via scheduled jobs and loaded into a dedicated analytics store. This protects operational system performance and provides a consistent, point-in-time dataset for analytics — unaffected by ongoing writes to source systems.

📋

Category-aligned Ownership

Each report category is owned by the module that is the authoritative source of its data. Billing owns billing reports; Order Management owns fulfilment reports; Mediation owns usage reports. Data quality issues in a report are traced back to the owning module for correction — not handled generically in the pipeline.

🔒

Compliance Reports as First-class

Regulatory and security reports are not afterthoughts — they are a defined report category with dedicated pipeline runs, stricter retention policies and scheduled delivery to compliance stakeholders. Every statutory submission is reproducible from the stored data, with a full audit trail of when it was generated and distributed.
