Design Principles
Key architectural decisions behind Campaign Management
Eligibility at Point of Offer
Campaign eligibility is evaluated in real-time when a subscriber browses offers — not pre-computed. This ensures that the most current account state, existing subscriptions and tenure are always reflected in which campaigns are shown.
Campaign-Coupon Separation
Campaigns define the targeting and commercial intent. Coupons are the distribution mechanism. Keeping these separate allows the same campaign to use multiple coupon types (single-use, reusable, agent-applied) without changing the campaign definition.
Lifecycle-controlled Activation
Campaigns follow a strict state machine. Pricing overrides and eligibility rules only apply when a campaign is Active. Expired or paused campaigns are invisible to CPQ and the product catalog — preventing accidental continued application of ended promotions.
Pick the audience most likely to respond, and avoid over-contacting customers.
Measure which customers a campaign really changes, not just who responds.
